Italian Job's Lamborghini Miura up for sale

Italian Job's Lamborghini Miura up for sale

The roar of a V12 engines echoes through the mountains as a cool guy in shades guides an orange Lamborghini Muira around hairpin bends to the dulcet tones of Matt Monro.

We can all name the film, and now one lucky (and wealthy) fan will have the chance to own a piece of cinematic history.

The orange Lamborghini Miura made famous from the opening scene of the original film “The Italian Job” is up for sale. One of the most famous cars ever made, the Miura is expected to sell for over £600k.

The car is original to its 1968 form, apart from a new engine fitted in 2011 due to ‘a hairline crack in the block’. The Miura has a transverse mounted 3,929cc V12 mid-engine under the bonnet, and a five-speed manual gearbox sending around 345bhp to the rear wheels.

The Lamborghini has been up for sale by Cheshire Classic Cars, and features the original Arancio orange and white leather interior. The original matching-number block is also available with the sale.

It has just five previous owners of the car and they have amassed only 11,000 miles in total on the dashboard.

Experts predict it could reach over £1.3m, but it may struggle to reach the bidding war that surrounded the 1965 Aston Martin DB5 built for the James Bond film franchise, which went on sale for £3million.
