Monthly Wrap-Up It’s been an interesting month in both reforecasting and new additions to the product, with lots to unpack and analyse. Despite the taxation changes that occurred last year surrounding double cab pick-ups, OEMs are still increasing and updating their offerings in this sector. Notably this month, the new Toyota Hilux valuations have entered the product, in both ICE and BEV powertrains. The introduction of the BEV powertrain is the latest of very few OEMs who have entered this landscape previously. With some big updates on the current generation, the new Toyota Hilux has been highly anticipated and should continue to hold strength within the sectors CLICK HERE to read the full article.

Future Car Market Overview SMR June 2026

Welcome to our latest overview of Service Maintenance and Repair (SMR) Budgets, previously known as the ‘gold book SMR editorial’. This is aimed at our Fleet sector customers, who may use the Budgets when setting their lease rates. Any customer suggestions for improvement would be appreciated: please e-mail [email protected] Following our acquisition of Derwent Management Services in 2014, cap-hpi Ludlow (Derwent) data has been used to populate our SMR budget forecast product since October 2014, but there have been no technical changes to any of our data files or services. As we expected, the new data represented a considerable improvement in terms of vehicle coverage compared to our previous external supplier, with more than 4,200 additional cars and LCVs being valued at implementation. Overall, Car coverage is 97.9% with many of the vehicles valued in gold book for the first time also included in the SMR data. The new budgets are based on our market leading Burn Rate data and incorporate the latest probability distributions for all elements, based on real world costs. In our opinion, it reflects a much more realistic representation of the likely future SMR expenditure than we were able to display in the past. For any further detailed questions, please e-mail [email protected] and we will respond as a matter of urgency. CLICK HERE to read the full article.

Car Market Overview June 26

This monthly update outlines the current state of the UK new and used car markets. It combines new car registration data up to the end of April 2026 with an assessment of prevailing conditions in the used market at the time of writing. All commentary reflects the market position as of 26th May 2026. New car sales UK new car registrations rose strongly in April, increasing by 24.0% year on year to 149,247 units, according to figures published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). The improvement was largely explained by the low point of comparison in April 2025, when a significant volume of demand had been pulled forward into March ahead of planned tax changes, including the extension of VED and the Expensive Car Supplement to battery electric vehicles. While April is typically a quieter month for registrations, which can distort annual comparisons, the result still represented the strongest April performance since 2019, when volumes reached 161,064 units. This is the cap guide to future residual values for light commercial vehicles. Individual forecasts are provided in pounds and percentage of list price for periods of twelve to sixty months with mileage calculations up to 200,000. Monthly Wrap-Up As expected, April has been another busy month for new additions into the guide, with over 188 new IDs added into the Monitor product. Amongst additions to existing ranges, we have seen one new entrant into the BEV sector, but the vast majority of IDs have been ICE. This is not a new trend either, with the majority of new IDs over the past year still for vehicles having an internal combustion engine. With the ZEV mandate nearing, it does raise the question of when the scales will tip. There are some exciting entries from Farizon, Ford and Volkswagen, to name a few, with the return of the Sportline trim from Volkswagen in their Transporters and an increase in 2-seat double cab conversions in the pick-up market from Ford and Mitsubishi. It’s certainly an interesting time to see the direction that OEMs are pursuing in the current climate. This month was also reforecasting for VAT Qualifying, Minibuses and Electrics. Unfortunately, the downward trajectory from the BEV sector continues as the uncertainty to make the switch remains. Although there have been positive movements from realignment exercises and performance-based evidence, the overall negative trend is strong. Given the nearing of the ZEV Mandate, plus price pressures at the pumps, the swing could well be on the horizon, but, for this month at least, the factors at play are still forcing negative trajectories amongst the sector.
