Commercial Overview August 2026

The latest SMMT LCV registration figures for June show a modest year on year increase of 2,598 units during the first half of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. However, growth accelerated in Q2, with an additional 5,637 LCVs registered compared with Q2 2025.

While this suggests that the new LCV market is strengthening as the year progresses, the same cannot be said for all sectors. Most notably, double-cab pick-up registrations continue to be heavily impacted by the BIK rule changes, falling by almost 57% (-1,587 units) in June.This decline was more than offset by strong growth in the panel van sectors.
